Say YES! to offshore wind

Some of the most meaningful work I’ve been part of lately hasn’t been about launching something new; it’s been about supporting what’s already underway and making sure it keeps going.

Through my work with Yes to Wind and Climate Action RI, I’ve been spending more time closer to offshore wind in the Northeast. Seeing it up close makes it harder to square with how abstract the conversation can feel from the outside.

Offshore wind is already delivering in tangible ways. It’s creating local jobs, bringing investment and activity back to ports, and generating electricity here in the region instead of relying on imported fuels that drive price spikes. It’s part of how we build a more stable, predictable energy system.

At this stage, progress depends on whether projects continue to move forward or stall out. That comes down, in part, to whether there is enough public support for leaders to point to when they make decisions on permitting, funding, and long-term investment.

That’s where Yes to Wind comes in. Signing the petition creates a visible, countable signal of support, giving local, state, and federal decision makers something concrete to reference when they’re weighing approvals and priorities.

So, if you care about where energy costs are headed, how power is generated, or what a more locally rooted system looks like, this is a simple way to weigh in. It takes a few seconds, and it directly contributes to whether these projects keep moving forward or not.
