Hello 👋, I’m Jonaliza!

I’m a marketing & communications operative focused on climate, environment, and sustainability, with a particular emphasis on climatetech and clean energy—tools I see as essential to conservation when designed and deployed responsibly. I’ve been fortunate to build a career doing work I genuinely care about: engaging people in the climate solutions that exist today and helping them feel informed, hopeful, and excited about what’s possible.

I’m driven by translating complex systems into clear, compelling stories, a reflection of how I approach both climate challenges and creative work. That perspective led me to the Marketing & Communications team at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, where I focus on telling stories that help move climate goals forward. On occasion, I also collaborate with climatetech startups and environmental nonprofits to help them establish or refine their brands, clarify their voice, and communicate their impact with intention.

My climate journey began in New York State government, where I spent nearly a decade working on and learning about environmental issues before pivoting fully into climate and environmental work in 2018. To deepen my expertise, I earned a Master’s in Natural Resources from the Virginia Tech Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability, focusing on the intersection of natural and built systems. Today, I apply that systems-thinking lens across both my professional and creative projects, exploring how infrastructure, power, and people shape the futures we build.

Outside the day-to-day, you’ll find me at Pilates, practicing archery, making macramé, or playing my steel tongue drum. Nature fuels my creativity, and the ocean is where I reset, most often on Rhode Island’s beaches with my family, but always near the coast.

Thanks for checking me out! XO
